The Bengio AB7 Rib Protector, FIA 8870 2018 Certified, represents the latest generation of protection for karting. Building on the success of the popular Bengio Bumper series, Bengio developed the AB7 as the first rib protector in its lineup to meet the strict FIA 8870-2018 homologation standards.

This high-quality rib protector is entirely handcrafted in Italy and offers not only excellent rib protection but also integrated protection for the sternum and back. Thanks to the combination of advanced materials, ergonomic design, and FIA-approved safety technology, the AB7 ranks among the very best in the karting world.

The Bengio AB7 protects the entire upper body thanks to integrated protection zones for:

The protector was tested in accordance with the FIA 8870-2018 standard:

Back protector: tested for impact energy of 100 joules

Chest protector: tested for impact energy of 60 joules

Rib protection: tested for impact energy of 100 joules

The FIA standard requires that the maximum peak force during an impact remain below 1 kN. The Bengio AB7 achieves results that fall well within this strict safety standard.

Ergonomic design for an optimal fit

The redesigned construction fits the driver's body perfectly. The lateral rib protection has been optimized for a comfortable seating position in the kart seat, while the adjustable elastic shoulder straps ensure a precise fit for different body types.

Tips for use

For maximum protection, the rib protector must fit the body properly. Be sure to check not only the size, but also whether the protector can be worn comfortably under your karting suit and fits well in the kart seat.

Tips for maintaining your gear:

Always wear the rib protector under your karting suit.

Cover the seat bolts with about 5 mm of foam to prevent wear on the cover.

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

About Bengio

Bengio was founded after kart driver Alessandro Begnozzi suffered a serious chest injury during a racing incident. His father, Stefano Begnozzi, then decided to develop safer rib protection. Together with five-time world champion Danilo Rossi and the DR Racing Team, they developed a completely new concept that is now used worldwide by both amateur and professional kart drivers.
